What is mindon?

MindOn is a comprehensive, engaging Mindfulness and Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) program for children. It is based on principles of positive psychology and resilience. It is delivered via face to face and online workshops & activities for children, parents and teachers. The program can be adopted for use at home by parents or adapted to fit within the school curriculum.


What is Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)?

The Five SEL Competency Clusters

  • 1. Self-Awareness: Recognizing & understanding one’s emotions and values as well as one’s strengths and challenges.
  • 2. Self-Management: Managing emotions and behaviors to achieve one’s goals.
  • 3. Social Awareness: Empathy – Understanding others around oneself, being able to view a situation from the perspective of another.
  • 4. Relationship Skills: Fostering positive relationships, working in teams, dealing effectively with conflict.
  • 5. Responsible Decision-Making: Making ethical, constructive choices about personal and social behavior.

Mindfulness: An approach to enhance SEL

Research suggests that Mindfulness is an effective approach to enhance SEL. Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. Quite simply, Mindfulness is the art of bringing attention to our thoughts, feelings and actions as they arise from moment to moment. Mindful awareness helps children to develop concentration and self-awareness. It is proven by research that brain training involving Mindfulness practices can strengthen areas of the brain responsible for attention, emotional control and problem solving. In practice, these benefits can be obtained by regular brief sessions of structured Mindfulness practice 2 to 3 times a day.
